Wednesday March 25th we held our classroom night at Cedar Valley Hunting preserve in Spring Green, Wi. The (36) new hunters learned how to pattern shotguns, shoot 22 rifles, turkey hunting set ups, turkey calling, DNR regulations and more within the 4 hour classroom. I first want to Thank all the helpers and mentors that were at the classroom and the mentors that will be mentoring a hunter 1 on 1 April 4th during the hunt. Michelle and I will be fortunate enough to mentor a young girl. Yesterday Saturday, march 28th her and her dad met with us so we could show them where we will be hunting, walk the property to do some scouting and explain the hunt day to both of them. We also set up our Ameristep Blinds and our Moultrie Cameras. The cameras were set up to do our scouting for us and make sure the birds continue to do the same things they have been for the past week. While we cannot be there to watch our set up 24/7 I will check the cameras 2 days prior to our hunt and make any changes if necessary. After the blinds and cameras were in place she then shot the shotgun one last time to build her confidence and make sure all was ready to go. Everything went well and it was a great day spent scouting, shooting and getting ready for the hunt itself. Although the week was busy I know I am super excited for next Saturday to get here. Thank you to Trevor Olson and Alissa Sepeda for the photo's at the classroom portion and Michelle Helin for the videography yesterday. Attached are some classroom photo's along with some screen shots from yesterday. | |
